We asked 'what drew you to martial arts?' and 'what keeps you training?' to members of the Welsh Karate Union during one of their summer training sessions.
These recordings were made to complement a new short video series filmed at Cardiff University in July 2017, Part 1 can be seen below;

To complement our short film series that has started with Part 1. "Why Martial Arts?" (featured on our home page), filmed at Cardiff University in July, we're releasing a short audio series from the perspective of members of martial arts clubs. We had the pleasure of spending time with the Welsh Karate Union over the last few weeks. Below is a sample of what's to come;
What draws you to martial arts?
That was where we started from when interviewing attendees at the Martial Arts Studies Research Network conference in July 2017. We selected a range of responses to be the first film in a short series that covers these intimate conversations held at Cardiff University in Cardiff, UK. You can watch Part 1 now;
Inbetween interviews, we managed to attend some of the conference activities. One in particular was facilitated by Daniel Mroz and Damon Honeycutt. An enjoyable 'hands on' session indeed, as you can get a feel of by the photo below!
At the end of the session, we asked Daniel and Damon to speak to us about their collaborative research project. You can hear them talk about it using the audio player below.
Hope you enjoyed all that. Stay tuned for more in the film series and other film and audio projects. Want to know more? email: firstname.lastname@example.org
